The Perfectly Portland Experience
Expansive, yet intimate. Eclectic, yet approachable. Downtown Portland is a compact hub, where entertainment venues, restaurants, bars, cafes, coffee shops, and pop-ups all mingle together to form a community that’s as inventive as it is welcoming. Here’s a glimpse into what you have to look forward to during your time in The City of Roses.
Entertainment
Event-seekers will find an array of show venues, concert halls, and theaters within blocks surrounding The Hi-Lo Hotel, including Antoinette Hatfield Hall, Keller Auditorium, and Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, which are all a part of Portland'5 Centers for the Arts. Join us at CRAFTpdx before or after the show for dinner, drinks, and even a nightcap.
West-End Dining
With an endless array of coffee shops and cafes, including Stumptown Coffee Roasters and 40 LBS Coffee Bar, there’s no doubt your day will start off right. Portland is no stranger to great food, from a collection of mini kitchens to the city’s largest food-cart pod. You can even opt for something a bit more sophisticated, like Portland City Grill, or stay in and dine at CRAFTpdx.
Outdoor Activities
Tom McCall Waterfront Park is just three blocks from us. Here, locals and guests can enjoy 36 acres of paved sidewalks, public fountains, and expansive tree-lined grass areas along the Willamette River. Runers, bikers, dog walkers, and more find year-round escape, activity, and beauty.
Breweries
Portland is home to breweries galore and downtown is no different. Less than one mile from The Hi-Lo Hotel, guests will find a handful of buzz-worthy breweries, including Von Ebert, Deschutes, or Wayfinder. Portland is also home to many brew-focused events, including Portland Beer Week and many Portland Beer Festivals.
Downtown
Set out on a short stroll and venture through Pioneer Courthouse Square, Portland’s vibrant downtown gathering space and host to food carts, annual festivals, exciting events, and a farmers market. Along the downtown streets, you’ll find a mix of intimate and large-scale retailers, including Nike, Columbia Sportswear, and Pendleton Woolen Mills.
